چکیده

Optical techniques have a long tradition in studying flow phenomena. In particular, speckle photography, introduced in 1968, has been extensively used. White-light speckle photography has certain advantages with respect to traditional speckle photography, which makes it a more robust method. The aim of this work is to evaluate quantitatively advantages and disadvantages of the technique using both simulation and experimental results. The simulation study is proposed to analyse the sensitivity of the technique to different data processing algorithms used to extract the speckle displacement, with particular attention devoted to a reliable estimation of the correlation peak. In fact, as well known, the peak location in the correlation surface gives the relative displacement between the two speckle images and, hence, the temperature gradient.

Pure and Gd3+, Tb3+ and Ho3+-doped As2Ni3O8: A new visible light induced photocatalyst for the photodegradation of malachite green water pollutant

Nanostructured doped As2Ni3O8 samples were synthesized via facile one step solid state reactions at 850 °C for 8 h using As2O3, Ni(NO3)2.6H2O, Gd2O3, Tb2O3 and Ho2O3 raw materials. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) technique. The rietveld analyses showed that the obtained materials were crystallized well in monoclinic crystal structure with the ...

Induced compositional layering in a convecting fluid layer by an endothermic phase transition

An endothermic phase change in the presence of chemical heterogeneitles can act as an efficient filter, such that heavy material is sequestered below the phase change and light material is trapped above the phase change. Due to the fact that the endothermlc phase change damps thermal convection, it can act as a "trap door" for chemical heterogeneitles Ascending flows which are chemically dense ...

Buoyancy Instabilities in Degenerate, Collisional, Magnetized Plasmas

In low-collisionality plasmas, anisotropic heat conduction due to a magnetic field leads to buoyancy instabilities for any nonzero temperature gradient. We study analogous instabilities in degenerate collisional plasmas, i.e., when the electron collision frequency is large compared to the electron cyclotron frequency. Although heat conduction is nearly isotropic in this limit, the small residua...

Hydrodynamics Analysis of Density Currents

Density Current is formed when a fluid with heavier density than the surrounding fluid flows down an inclined bed. These types of flows are common in nature and can be produced by; salinity, temperature inhomogeneities, or suspended particles of silt and clay. Driven by the density difference between inflow and clear water in reservoirs, density current plunges clear water and moves towards a d...

Liquid metal flow behavior during vacuum consumable arc remelting process for titanium

125301-7474 IJET-IJENS @ February 2012 IJENS I J E N S Abstract—To better understand the vacuum arc remelting (VAR) process, a 3D finite element model is established to analyzing the electromagnetic, temperature and flow fields of titanium alloy ingot during steady state melting process using ANSYS software. The research results show that the current flows from the crucible to consumable electr...
